The formation of the Slovene national translatorial field and the emergence of the culturally specific translatological thought

An overview of all the articles published in Slovene journals in the field of linguistics and literary theory in the period between 1919 and 1989 was made in order to identify the most important texts that touched upon the field of Translation Studies and to report on the formation and development of Slovene translatological thought. The overview was written by Dr. Nike K. Pokorn, and MA students were included in the research: they translated an article that was selected as the most exemplary article of the period, i.e., the article by Dr. Darko Dolinar, into English.

Professor Brian Baer will include the critical overview of the development of the Slovene translatological thought in an anthology that is going to present the state of translatological thought in Eastern- and Central-European states in the period between the end of WWI and the end of 1980s. The monograph is planned to be published in 2006 with a publisher that specializes in TS and linguistic scholarly works.
